My Time Out Deluxe Camper Trailer Review — 2 Years, 10K Miles and No Regrets
A couple of years ago… back in early ’24, I decided to take the plunge and buy a camper trailer that I would tow behind my Harley Road Glide. I had been thinking about this for a couple of years but hadn’t quite screwed up the courage to go ahead and pull the trigger.
I had the same concerns most of us do before a big purchase…
Was I considering all the options?
Would I use it as much as I hoped or planned to?
Would it become a money pit?
Or worse, would it become a monument in my garage to another purchase mistake and become a table I stored junk on.
Those and a dozen other thoughts…
Finally, in May of that year, I did it. Made a few phone calls, spoke with the folks at Time Out Trailers and ordered my trailer through their website… Gotta tell ya, I was a bit nervous as I hit that “BUY” button!
Now, prior to hitting that “BUY” button I had done quite a bit of research. I looked at all of the camper trailers available out there, created a spreadsheet and listed all of the specs so I could see them side by side. I compared floor space, the size of the sleeping area, empty weight and cargo capacity, watched video reviews and of course I compared price.
Delivered!
Ready for assembly…. how long will this take???
Probably the main competition for the Time Out in my opinion is the Lees-ure Lite camper…. Comparable in most aspects and its biggest selling point to me was how quickly it goes up, incredibly fast! In the end though, I chose the Time Out due to its larger floor space. I’m a big guy, 6’ 3”, and I really wanted the extra space to move around, store gear and be comfortable on those long camp trips.
Now after 2 years, 10K miles and many nights spent under the stars, I still feel that way. It was definitely the right camper for me.
Delivery took about 2 weeks, not bad I think and as a bonus it was delivered right to my house.
Assembly takes minimal tools, basic tools most folks have in their garage, if they own a motorcycle. It took me about 4 hours and 2 beers to get it completely assembled. I’ve got a full review video where I’ll go into more detail about that process coming soon. After assembly, I waited till the next morning and did a few laps pulling it around the block to test it out… I’d never pulled a trailer with a motorcycle so that was a new experience. After I felt comfortable with that, I hit the highway for a couple of miles…. Honestly, highway towing is much easier that pulling it at slow speeds though the neighborhood.
My first camp experience with the trailer was close to home. I chose Millersylvania State Park near Olympia Washington. That was far enough from home that I would get some towing experience with the Harley and camper but close enough I could call friends or family for help if the whole experience went South. I was a little nervous, maybe cautious is the better word, but fortunately, the whole experience went smoothly, an almost perfect first trailer camping expedition.
I pulled into the campsite around 3pm and almost immediately I drew a crowd. A small group of about 6 women, most of who were retired, and were part of a van camping group stopped by. They watched me unfold the camper, took pictures and videos and asked a lot of questions. How does it tow, where did I buy it, how much do they cost….
It always draws a crowd.
and honestly…. I don’t mind answering the questions.
They had never seen such an interesting little camper and they couldn’t wait to see what it looked like unfolded and fully assembled. They all wanted to see inside and were impressed with its roominess. I fully and freely admit I enjoyed showing the camper off and answering their questions.
I only stayed one night but in the 18 hours I was there I’ll bet I had 6 or 7 campers stop by, ask questions and take pictures. It was quite the experience!
First Camping trip with the Time Out Deluxe Camper
As I pulled out that next morning, I was hooked. I immediately began planning camping trips, further from home across the Pacific Northwest, reading about camp gear, joining Facebook groups focused on motorcycle trailer camping and immersing myself in a hobby that was to become a lifestyle.

You can see it come together and get a much better feeling of what it’s like to tow, setup and camp in.
Since that first camping trip, I’ve never looked back…. And I can’t wait to see what lies ahead!
